Spring has sprung – and other news!

I woke up this morning and it was actually getting light! That’s always a great sign in the rainy Pacific Northwest. Already, there are some dandelions blooming and my neighbor’s yard is filled with crocuses and daffodils. Meanwhile, in my garden,  the chickweed is verdant and I’ve been judiciously eating it, not wanting to overgraze this precious source of vitamins and minerals. With the increase in daylight and promise of flowers, I’m slowly emerging from the winter blahs. Quite a bit has happened in my writing life in the past few months and I want to share it with you.

The Bram Stoker Award-nominated Nox Pareidolia anthology is out and includes my short story Just Beyond the Shore. Published by Nightscape Press, this an anthology is a “new vision of weird and horrific ambiguity”. It’s available as either an ebook with color illustrations by artist Luke Spooner, or as a black-and-white print edition on the Nightscape Press website or Amazon. The deluxe color illustrated print edition will be out soon.

One of my favorite stories, Yes, Yes, Yes We Remember is included in Third Flatiron’s Best of 2019 anthology. This is another story told by the Vysoké Tatry – the Tatra Mountains, who also told Maria’s story in Stone Dove. Yes, Yes, Yes was first featured in the Hidden Histories anthology, then released as a podcast. I feel like I’ve hit the trifecta!

On Marth 8th, I’ll be joining the other Strongly Worded Women at the Multnomah Library from 2:30 – 3:30 pm for “Before, During and After the Pages: Writing Short Stories“.  If you’re in the Portland area, be sure to stop by!

As Spring makes one hopeful, I’ll continue to write and submit, complete my eco-feminist fantasy novella, and begin my first course at UC San Diego’s Copyediting Certificate program in the coming months. Here’s to a prosperous Spring for everyone!

Yes, Yes, Yes, We Remember

I’m excited to announce that my short story, Yes, Yes, Yes, We Remember was published by Third Flatiron Press on April 15th! You can get your copy on Amazon.

This story is close to my heart because it’s set in the fictional town of Holubica in the Vyoske Tatries, the same world as Stone Dove, which was published online by Crossed Genres. I love this world and I’m so happy that a second story from the High Tatras is out in the world.

Hidden Histories

I’m pleased to announce that my short story Yes, Yes, Yes, We Remember will be published by Third Flatiron Press in April!

It’s always wonderful to have a piece accepted but this one is especially dear to my heart. I usually write short stories and then search for appropriate publications to submit to but when I saw the call for submission from Third Flatiron, I knew I had to write something special. The theme of this anthology is “Hidden Histories” and I couldn’t think of anything more fitting than for the Vysoké Tatry—the High Tatra Mountains—to tell another story. The first Vysoké Tatry story, Stone Dove, was published by Crossed Genres in 2015 and it’s gratifying to have a second Vyoske Tatry story out in the world in 2019.
