When I moved to Washington County, Oregon, I was excited to share this part of the world with so many wonderful writing professionals and have access to organizations, events, and workshops. It didn’t take long, however, for the drive into Portland to get old. I wanted to bring writing professionals and local writers together in western Washington County. With the mindset of “if you build it, they will come”, I booked a lovely conference room and the first three presenters. My goal was to hold three monthly forums and see how it went. Well, the enthusiasm and support from the local writing community (participants and presenters alike) was more than I had imagined! That three month goal quickly came and went and I have no plans of stopping.
WCWF hosts presenters from all walks of the writing life; editors, coaches, bloggers and branders, non-fiction, and fiction writers from a variety of genres such as young adult, comics, fantasy, and romance to name just four. WCWF’s goal to bring professionals to western Washington County continues on the first Thursday of every month (except January) at Insomnia Coffee’s Downtown Hillsboro location from 7-8:30pm. There is a $5 admission fee to help defray the costs of the meeting room and an honorarium for the presenters.
